Australian Mick Fanning returns to competitive surfing. 


Australian champion surfer Mick Fanning returned to professional competition yesterday and celebrated with a win. 




It is less than four weeks since his famous fight with a great white shark in the J-Bay Open Finals in South Africa, but is didn' seem to affect his concentration form. He looked composed and focused nailing his first heat with two five plus scores in the Billabong Pro in Tahiti.




Fanning beat fellow Australian Adam Melling and Tahitian Taumata Phuetini in his heat with a total of 12.17.
The event was called postponed later in the afternoon due to bad weather conditions It is thought that it will resume tomorrow.

Fanning told ABC news, "It was just great to get back in the singlet and focus on surfing again. There had been so much hype about the incident at J-Bay and so much media attention. I just wanted to move on."
