The History of Hemp





Whether you know it or not, if you are a surfer, the chances are you have used Hemp (Canabis) in one way or another at some point this summer.

Hemp products have been increasing in popularity over the last few year with  brands like Vans, Sanuk, Patagonia, Afends and many more  getting in on the act.

Why ?
Quite simply there are many qualities and benefits that make Hemp ideal in the use of making sports products such as shoes,snowboards, goggles  Hemp fibres are very strong and produces a significant amount of oil.






Hemp grows naturally without pesticides

Hemp is mold resistant

• Hemp is strong and durable

Hemp is biodegradable

Hemp reduces heat and remains cool

Hemp protects against the sun’s harmful rays


It can also have a huge impact on reducing our carbon footprint. Hemp is a great alternative to plastics.
So, at the end of its life-cycle Hemp will go back into the earth and decompose, it wouldn’t rot in landfill somewhere for many centuries to come !
